about

I was raised up in the far country side in my early childhood and moved closer in the outskirt of the big city in a farmland. As I grew up in the farm, my habit of building and making things with my hands was very natural and I've become to earn for a greed-less life. These humble childhood experiences and memories have given, and are still giving, great influences in my hand-crafted works. I dream of producing my works like a farmer patiently waiting to harvest the rice in autumn after planting the seed in spring.

Who is your inspiration?

I get most of inspirations from my childhood memories. I had great time growing up in the countryside with my grandparents. I have such great memories and most of the ideas and inspirations I get for my works are based on them. I also get the inspirations from my friends and family members.

Project; ORDINARY OBJECTS CAN BECOME SOMETHING ELSE

In my work, I talk about two things. One is about the search for possible changes and new meanings in the most ordinary objects of our daily lives. I believe that many of the mundane objects have boudless capabilities of transforming into something else. Under the moto ORDINARY OBJECTS CAN BECOME SOMETHING ELSE, my works come mostly from my childhood experiences. By little(or it may be big) transformations they make, the objects gain new meanings with only one purpose/function.
Second is to express the symphony of design and craft. My projects never undergo machinery process. Therefore only small quantities are 'crafted' out of my hands.

DESIGN VS UNDESIGNED / INITIATIVE ATTITUDE, OBSERVATION, POSSIBILITY

In the name of design, various products exists as part of our every-day lives. Most designed products are packaged with the right answer for consumers. In other words, products that have been designed under the justification of convenience that are best for consumers may be piling up in storage rooms, like and unwanted gift.

What are products that are designed and undesigned?

Consumer's initiative, active attitude towards a designed product can bring all sorts of inspiration, furthermore, a driving force for an endless discovery.Through observing and getting inspiration, I'm looking for the possible initiative attitude(design) which goes beyond the passive(undesigned).
