| - 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT | |||
"POST FOSSIL¡ªexcavating 21st century creation" Li Edelkoort, the world¡¯s premier trend forecaster, has drawn upon her unique insight in order to choose and present a new generation of artists and designers whose works will redefine what we currently regard as conventional design. Incorporating natural materials and processes, these designers are traveling back in time and revisiting the primitive roots of the very act of design itself. The exhibition as a whole seeks out clues necessary for the human race to live fulfilling lives and define our future. |

The name is read as "Two-one two-one design sight." It derives from the term in English for perfect vision, "20/20 Vision" (or sight), and was named to express our wish to become a venue that will generate design that sees even more clearly what is ahead. The logo is designed after the often-seen Japanese address number plates, which represents 21_21 DESIGH SIGHT's being a "place" of design, and the importance that design plays in everyday life 9-7-6 Akasaka Minato-ku, Tokyo JAPAN |

| Release: August 2009 Arcadia is an expansive collection of contemporary alpine and backcountry architecture and interior design. The book profiles architects and designers who are embracing nature and creating provocative rural hideaways that adapt to their surrounding habitats and their topographical and climatic conditions. It features both traditional and progressive examples of private mountaintop homes and hotel lodges nestled in the forest landscape as well as bespoke furniture and interior designs inspired by nature and folklore. Arcadia is an inspiring reference that shows how the archaic idea of life in harmony with nature can be reflected in contemporary living. |

| for Johnson Trading Gallery | |||
The global forum for collecting, exhibiting, discussing and creating design. Inspired by the galvanizing effect of Art Basel Miami Beach, the founders of Design Miami/ set out to create a design fair unlike any other that came before. In 2005, Ambra Medda and Amy Lau saw the opportunity to create a nexus for the far-flung global community of cutting-edge design dealers, collectors, creatives, curators, and critics. They envisioned a new commercial and cultural forum that would capture the thriving general interest in design and elevate appreciation for limited-edition, experimental and historically significant design work, presented within an energetic, visually striking environment. No other design fair had ever attempted such a feat. |

The BusanBiennale 2008 unfolds at the Busan Museum of Modern Art , Gwangalli Beach and APEC Naru Park between September 6th and November 15th under the theme of Expenditure. Culture is more closely related to wasteful activities where products are released and consumed to go back to the beginning of the cycle, rather than activities of production, construction, preservation, and augmentation. In this regard, the theme of the Busan Biennale 2008 promises to exhibit a distinctive philosophy of 'Expenditure' and a vivid scene of contemporary art through a variety of artworks created by artists invited from throughout the world, including paintings, photographs, videos, installations, outdoor sculptures, etc. |

Made of electric wire knitted and shaped by Lee, in lengths reaching more than 100 meters, these lamps are possessed of a rare poetry and, in the end, of great simplicity - enthusiastic explorations of how to make extraordinary things out of an everyday material. They are also part of a design trend in which the focus returns to a production process emphasizing the handcrafted. - volume2 |

DESIGN VS UNDESIGNED-INITIATIVE ATTITUDE, OBSERVATION, POSSIBILITY In the name of design, various products exists as part of our every-day lives.Most designed products are packaged with the right answer for consumers.In other words, products that have been designed under the justification of convenience that are best for consumers may be piling up in storage rooms, like and unwanted gift. What are products that are designed and undesigned? Consumer's initiative, active attitude towards a designed product can bring all sorts of inspiration,furthermore, a driving force for an endless discovery.Through observing and getting inspiration, I'm looking for the possible initiative attitude(design) which goes beyond the passive(undesigned). |
