KNOT, beyond the inevitable

From the ancient times, making a knot was out of necessary, inevitable behaviors.Humans invented many ways to make knots and was then able to hunt, fish, build houses, transport things. Like the past, we are still associated with such behaviors, things that we must do to live, things that we do with habit. When this collides with one's memory, it brings a new meaning, a meaning with good reason that's beyond a mere, inevitable behavior. Most home appliances use electricity for power and the long, umbilical cord-like wires are very familiar and obvious in our lives. These wires keep meeting various new designs to suggest better ways to solve their inconvenient nature to the user. In the other hand, I looked at the opposite side and wanted to suggest that making a knot, which is quite an instinctive behavior in all of us, with wires is surprisingly easy, and that the users will start looking at objects in a more active prospective and behavior.

       
     
       
     

The biggest inspiration of this lighting is my mother's knitting hobbies during my childhood. Her knitted sweaters and gloves remind me of the good days of my childhood. I saw the neat pile of electric wires as yarns and soon decided to knit(weave) my own. Other than knitting with needles, I developed a new way of weaving the rubber but solid wires into long, scarf-like or brush-like form of lighting. They are weaved by one long wire which varies in length-from 10 to 300meters.

       
     
       
      Altough it's made with a single long wire, It's not dangerous at all, like how many worry about, because I use low-watt bulb and have tested many times at factories with experts. The lightings are on going series. All editions are available to order (all are made- to-order) and I get orders through exhbitions or through my homepage.
